Job Summary

Senior Activity Leaders work closely with the Head of Co-Curricular to ensure the delivery of the full co-curricular programme and assist with the daily organisation and running of the programme. They lead groups of students on trips, teach afternoon activities and host social activities with the assistance of the activity leaders. The salary for this post will be £700 per week including holiday pay and includes all meals while on duty.

Details of Position

Summer Programme:

Sevenoaks School Summer Programme is a two-week academic enrichment course for ambitious international students aged 14-17. The course is challenging, and includes four ten-hour modules on Critical Thinking, Social Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Digital & Study Skills. These modules are all integral to the academic life of any Sevenoaks pupil so the international students will leave the Summer Programme with a real indication of Sevenoaks School academics

The Summer Programme will run for 2 x 2 week periods from Wednesday 3 July to Wednesday 31 July 2019. New staff induction days and set up will take place on 1-2 July 2019.

The Role:

Senior Activity Leaders work closely with the Head of Co-Curricular to ensure the delivery of the full co-curricular programme and assist with the daily organisation and running of the programme. They lead groups of students on trips, teach afternoon activities and host social activities with the assistance of the activity leaders.

The position is offered as a fixed-term contract. Although applicants who have full availability throughout this period are prioritised, applications for shorter periods may be considered. Therefore, if you are unable to work for the entire 4 weeks, please state this clearly in your application form and provide reasons.

Duties:

Assist the Head of Co-Curricular to deliver and manage the day to day running of the full co-curricular programme
Manage Activity Leaders to engage, develop and integrate the Sevenoaks School Pupils and International students throughout the co-curricular programme
Ensure that high quality session plans are created by the Activity Leaders for every sport, activity and excursion that takes place
Plan trip schedules and activities and complete relevant Risk Assessments
Make sure all co-curricular activities are delivered competently, professionally and safely by the Activity Leaders
Supervise and lead students on excursions and ensure their safe travel at all times
Plan and deliver activities and provide coaching to an appropriate level in any specialised field (be it sport or performing arts) in which you are suitably qualified
Ensure that every part of the co-curricular programme (sport, social, excursions) is carried out safely and strictly and in accordance with Sevenoaks policies particularly those relating to staff supervision levels, staff code of conduct, risk assessments and registers to ensure student safety at all times
Organise the induction and team building games on Arrival evenings
Ensure attendance registers are completed effectively by the Activity Team
Lead by example at all times and maintain extremely high standards throughout the team
Deputise for the Head of Co-Curricular in their absence
Produce end of course reports to a high standard and by the required deadline
Actively manage, supervise and engage with students during mealtimes in order to ensure a calm and pleasant dining experience for all
Undertake airport transfers warmly and positively and follow all timings accurately
Assist in day to day general duties as instructed by senior management
Plan and manage the Sevenoaks School Pupil registration and induction as required
Assist the Head of Co-Curricular with Activity observations and drop-ins
Train, coach and develop Activity Leaders as required
Plan, lead and facilitate an exciting evening activities programme

Qualifications

Essential:

Educated to degree level
Leadership experience in managing a team
Experience in organising/supervising/leading activities and events
Experience of teaching/coaching in an international summer school, activity camp or similar context
Passionate about sport, drama, arts and crafts, music or survival skills
Ability to lead, supervise, engage and have fun with young learners
Strong administrative and IT skills
Proficient with Office 2010
Sports, Teaching or coaching qualifications (e.g. QTS in Sports or PE) or equivalent in Drama and Performing Arts
A good understanding of health & safety and safeguarding
Native/near native competence in spoken and written English

Desirable:

Proven skills in logistics and project planning
HSE First Aid Certificate
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

Hours:

The Senior Activity Leader will work 6 days per week for the fixed term contract. For the most part, Sunday will be the day off but this may not always be the case. They will be required to work Saturdays and evenings. This position requires you to work as necessary for the proper performance of your professional duties.

Salary:

The salary for this post will be £700 per week including holiday pay and includes all meals while on duty.
